  1. Double Boil all the ingredients except for the essential oils
  2. Once beeswax has melted turn on double boiler and remove and leave to cool
  3. Work a little quickly here, once it cools it’ll start to harden so at a warm temperature, include your essential oils
  4. Pour mixture into a disposable piping plastic bag or any regular small clean plastic bag where you can cut off the tip.
  5. Arrange your empty lip gloss bottle on top of baking picture for easy cleaning
  6. Cut off the bottom tip of your piping bag and start filling top your lip gloss bottle right till the top.
  7. Let it cool. Remove any spilled wax and cover

How to make your essential oils less effective.

Essential Oils are high in antioxidant properties. They also contain many other system supporting properties. Each oil has a purpose, but they do have a varying ratio of each of these properties. I use them daily to help me detox/chelate/neutralise my body of any free radicals and build up a strong immune system. I believe it has the potential to be the most effective modality when it comes to supporting our immune system.

However…. how effective the oils are at carrying out it’s multi-faceted capabilities will depend on many factors. For e.g.: how is my diet? do I eat a lot of fried food full of saturated omega 6 fatty acids? am I drinking too much alcohol or sodas? is the air I’m breathing clean (internal and external air!!)? am I using products laden with toxic chemicals on my skin and in my mouth? Fun Fact: an average home has more indoor air pollution than the outside.

If we are bombarding our bodies with undesirable chemicals, then much of the oil is being used up to neutralise those chemicals. And as it is doing this, it is depleting it’s ability to do other functions in other areas of the body. So you have to increase your dose of essential oil to increase it’s functions and effect on your body.

Every day we are exposed to toxic chemicals whether we like it or not. Thankfully, most of the time we are in control of the choices we make. What’s in your deodorant, haircare, body wash, air freshener, toothpaste, cleaners?

Learn what chemicals are damaging to our bodies. Learn to look out for endocrine disruptors in the ingredients list – these are toxic chemicals that disrupt your endocrine system (the system responsible for hormone production) creating an imbalance in your hormone levels, which can then lead to many diseases.

The body’s inability to purge toxins fast enough (toxic burden) lead to a compromised immune system that cannot keep up with the repair work needed to keep the body healthy from free radicals and cell mutations.

Go to EWG’s Dirty Dozen List – https://www.ewg.org/…/dirty-dozen-list-endocrine-disruptors…

If you’re one of our members, ask how you can get yourself added to The Essential Switch group in Facebook, to learn what to avoid and how to make the switch to clean products that YL has! this is a support group created for you.

I don’t walk down the cleaning aisle or the personal care aisle in the supermarket or pharmacy anymore. I have replaced all those with what YL can provide that are clear of endocrine disruptors. They have a huge range of products for your every day needs – nothing but clean, safe  ingredients. I have saved myself a lot of time and I’ve invested that money in my health.

Just remember, antioxidants of all forms are SOOOO important!! Fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Oils and Ningxia Red daily too! because they have very high levels of antioxidants and you just can’t get it all in food these days. And get rid of the things that challenge the body in it’s restoration and repair.

What conscious changes are you going to make next to give your immune system a chance?

If you want to learn more about the science behind essential oils and why YL’s oils can’t be beat, you can visit my friend Dr Doug’s group. He’s trained in biophysics and biochemistry and does a great job at explaining things in terms we can understand. This is a great place for those of you who love learning the science behind YL’s oils!

Aromatherapy Yoga with Ed Dailey

So on Tuesday bunch of girlfriends and I went to Yoga Mala for a 7:30 PM two hours aromatherapy yoga session with the renouned Ed Dailey.

A few things that I loved about his energy was that he engaged with his students. He asked questions like how they were feeling today, have they been sleeping ok, what is the most common problems Singaporeans suffer on a day to day basis etc. etc.

From there he decides what would be the best sequence to bring forth to practice. That night as it was a Tuesday evening and people came after work, most people mentioned that they were feeling tense and some said stressed with work. So he decided a sequence that focused on the hip/femur part of the body.

I loved the bit when he would put us thought these torture like postures where we’d sit on the floor heels next to the buttocks. So your knees are really opening up and we’d sit there for 8-10minutes or so (or at least it felt like it). From there he’d talk a little bit more and you’d notice people’s faces would start to contort because they were starting to get really uncomfortable. At this point too the first oil that he placed on the left (receiving hand) was Stress Away.

Then later he’d switch to a down dog to alleviate the discomfort and instantly people breathed a silent sigh of relief.

Throughout the class it consisted on mostly that, some slightly uncomfortable restorative postures the ease into a more comfortable restorative posture, creating that alleviating of tension and that sigh of relief from everyone.

Another cool thing we practiced was a lot of group work. He complained that every time people come into a Yoga class they just fall silent and not interact with others and fall into their own mat and close out everyone from existence. So he changed that and made us do many group stretches which I thought was cool to interact and get hands on with others to help with either getting deeper grounding (by pressing down on feet or on points of the body which he demonstrated) and just the physical contact itself gave some comfort.

The oils he used were very simple. Started off with Stress Away, then it was my favourite for it’s high frequency Idaho Blue Spruce – breathing this in while in Childs Pose. Towards the end we used Lemon. Finally during Savasana we inhaled Joy (I think this is his favourite).

Lots of great tips taken away from this session. Thank you for the wonderful session Ed and for sharing your wisdom and expressing your quirky personality. Sx

My Choice in Companies

What is your ‘why’ for using Young Living.

Just a brief word as to why i chose the Young Living essential oils Company as my primary and ONLY choice in using or recommending essential oils. I know that there are very few small and private companies that produce high quality essential oils in the world and it is a matter of sourcing them. Young Living’s essential oils fit perfectly for what i wanted in a product due to their authenticity and guarantee that they are a pure, 100% chemical free (no solvents in distillation either), wild-crafted and organically grown by sustainable and ecological farming practices: that is, they use absolutely no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or agricultural chemicals of any kind in cultivating and distilling their crops. What a treasure it was for me to find Young Living, a solid 20year old company today who has build a prestigious reputation as well as building many of their own global farms. Some companies have now even mimicked Young Living – using similar messages and formulations – so consumers beware. I finally found essential oils that I did not react to; could trust, apply on my skin, breathe and even ingest them. These essential oils are being used for healing purposes, even in hospitals today, thus their original descriptive word ‘therapeutic’.

D. Gary Young founder of Young Living Company plus grower, harvester and distiller of the Young Living crops, starts with nurturing the soil before planting by using a combination of minerals, organic mulch, manure and enzymes. Today, Young Living owns and operated the largest privately owned organic herb farms in the world now in 9 countries. 12 farms and upholds the prominent “Seed to Seal” distinction in the aromatherapy, essential oil industry. They have shown to have one of the highest standards in the world. All their oil samples are sent to two or up to five independent laboratories for testing, to be sure that they conform to the International (ISO) and (AFNOR) standards for therapeutic-grade essential oils.

But even more powerfully, Young Living set their own high standards of excellence and purity giving a new meaning to genuine, therapeutic grade essential oils – matter of fact D. Gary Young coined the term ‘therapeutic grade essential oils’ back in early 2004. This term was never used beforehand until the founder’s unrivalled expertise on the therapeutic power of the plants as well as his impeccable standards for high quality led to the creation of the world’s largest line of genuine, therapeutic essential oils and blends. Again, consumers beware of mimickers. I like to refer to the Young Living oils as “GTG” (Genuine Therapeutic Grade)!

Obviously, if you can find the same standard of edible and impeccable clean, environmental sustainable  essential oils then by all means, go ahead, they will be a great asset to you. There are some small and few companies that do… Make certain that they uphold to this high standard and you, the consumer, are wise to know a number of factors that make that difference, such as: the dedication of their grower; the location of where the plants are grown, method of farming, use of correct species, proper harvesting methods and the skill in distilling the oils, to name a few (much more is described in chapter 6).

Otherwise you will purchase essential oils that will not offer you all the marvellous benefits for skin care outlined in this guidebook. After all, the essential oil quality as nature provided is everything achieving the desired results of heath and glowing, radiant skin.

So I warn the reader once again: Buyer Beware! Quality products will not be found at the department stores, discount store, drug stores and beauty salons as they rarely contain pure essential oils. Many consumers are unaware that many health food store products or other direct selling essential oil companies contain adulterated oils (oils that have been processed with solvents/chemicals or have fillers/volumizers in them). The suggestions made throughout this guidebook apply to the use of Genuine, authentic and non-adulterated; ‘therapeutic’ grade A Essential Oils. I know that I am stressing this fact of ‘purify’ due to the potential ‘risk’ factor to you the buyer.

The company that I prefer to use and suggest to others – Young Living Company – encouraged it’s members or consumers to visit the company’s own and partnered biodynamic herbal or tree farms anywhere in the world. This allows you to become ‘in-touch” with and become “touched-by” the plants and the land. It was the greatest pleasure for me to meet D. Gary Young. president and founder of Young Living with his wife Mary Young. It was even more rewarding to travel with the Young’s while on expeditions in visiting six of the global biodynamic herb farms. On numerous occasions, I witnessed the farming process from planting of the seeds to the final product with D. Gary Young who gave through the detailed explanations. Hence the company has coined the process ‘Seed to Seal’ in claiming their distinction in the world’s production of essential oils.

Today, I consider both Gary and Mary as my dear friends and Kindred Spirits. I have marvelled at D. Gary Young’s honouring and connectedness to commune with the Nature Spirits (in the plants, the animals, the trees) before planting and cutting the trees. Young Living’s commitment to produce the finest and highest quality essential oils is unmatched in the world today. D. Gary Young is sought after for his knowledge and standards by many global markets.

Aromatherapy in ancient times was used for healing, beauty and medicine and considered a most precious substance that was the basis for trade for hundreds of years as evidenced with the Frankincense Trail documentation. You can become empower and also enjoy the miracles that the botanicals offer on so many levels: mental, emotional and spiritual.

Now go to the mirror and see for yourself, who is staring back at you! Are you impressed? Do you have some mind-chatter going on in what you see? Are you pleased with the way you look? Well, the best motivation for change may be in what you see in the mirror.

I sincerely trust that in this guidebook will inspire you to use herbal foods and essential oils, to continue your search and to further seek the treasures that are given to you from the sweet ‘nectar’ of the plants. In Greek and Roman mythology, the drink of the gods was classed ‘nectar’ – the drink that sustained their beauty and immortality. May you be blessed and enriched by the “essence” of the plants.

Dr Oliver Wenker Seminar – Micro Biome (Part 3 of 3)

We have come to the final bit of information taken from Dr Oliver Wenker’s seminar. Well at least from my own personal notes. For those members who went for the seminar and feel there were some key points that I have missed please mention them in the comments section of this post.

Once again I would encourage personal research. If there is something with regards to any information you receive, if you are sceptical about it, do the research yourself. People might be wrong and there could be scientific or testimonial evidence that contradicts what people say. There is a saying that I love that goes, “Believe nothing of what you hear and half of what you see.” ~ Isn’t this quote fantastic!

What is Micro Biome?
  • They are all the bacteria that live in us
  • 90% of our cells are bacterial cells
  • We harbour 100 trillion bacteria in our bodies, and 90% of these bacterias are in our gut
    • That is why our poop is really rich in information
    • The bacteria in our poop decides if we are going to be obese or not
  • Is your DNA your destiny?
    • What you eat tomorrow will effect the health of your great grandchildren
    • What you put in your mouth and how you live your lifestyle decides the destiny of your offspring and their offsprings
    • Antibiotics in some aspects are useful and have documented in saving many lives however;
    • Antibiotics does not cure viruses i.e flu virus

  • Your Gut
    • 90% of your micro biome lives in your gut
      • Aids in digesting food, consists of your immune system, produces vitamins
    • It makes up of 75% of your immune system
    • Consists of your metabolism

Side Note: GMO Foods started being introduced to the us from about 1990. GMO Changes the way our bacteria work.

  • Glyphosade (RoundUp). This is found in insecticides. Glyphosate is an antibiotic and kills your micro biome
  • It is really important that our gut is doing well
  • DiGize Essencial Oil is very good for your body and the environment in your gut
  • What determines micro biome?
    • Vaginal Birth
    • Breast Feeding
    • Nutrition
    • Exercise
    • Glyphosate Treated, GMO Plants
    • GMO used in the meat industry (antibiotics GMO)
    • Age
    • Stress
    • Medications
    • Water Treatment
    • Geographical Location
  • Gut Formula:
    • 1% bad bacteria
    • food is most important for micro biome
    • more greens in diet
    • Think about your gut micro biome as your own soil. You don’t want to pollute it is processed or chemically modified foods.
the Human Brain

Frontal Lobe: Processes Information
Occipital Lobe: For Vision
Temporal Lobe: Hearing
Parietal Lobe: Pain Processing
Cerebellum Lobe: Balance
Brain Stem: Sex
All these areas of the brain

Two types of phenomena are involved in processing the nerve impulse: Electrical and Chemical. Electrical events propagate a signal within a neutron, and chemical processes transmit the signal from one neutron to another or to a muscle cell.

  • Brain uses 20% of our energy through electrical and chemical pulses to communicate with one another
  • Our brain consists of 90 billion cells
  • Functions at 268mph (That’s supersonic fast!!)
  • Each brain cells connects 40,000 synapses and causes 100,000 chemical brain reactions

In a nutshell, women have more grey matter where as man have more white matter in the brain.
So there is a difference between a women’s brain and a men’s brain. To understand the difference between a women’s and a men’s brain, click here.

The GUT AND BRAIN

This is where we tell you if you don’t know already ( I didn’t till now) how your gut is connected to your brain.

  • Micro biome and the Brain
    • The brain block barrier in brains blocks toxins from entering the brain
    • Remember that “Gut Feeling” That’s your second brain that located at the gut.
    • Neurogenesis is the process of creating a new brain cells. However guess what, in order to do this you must have a good micro biome.. that’s right, good gut health
    • Hippocampus: The hippocampus is a small organ located within the brain’s medial temporal lobe and forms an important part of the limbic system, the region that regulates emotions. The hippocampus is associated mainly with memory, in particular long-term memory. The organ also plays an important role in spatial navigation
      • Are we saying there is a cure for Alzheimer? I’m going to be hopeful about this and hey, it is involves me only to be having good gut health then why not?! No Brainer!
    • So how can we promote Neurogenesis?
      • Exercising 1/2 a day increases the size of hippocampus
      • Exercising also improves the micro biome by 20% (sweat exercise) – Walking on the other hand is also very beneficial
      • Essential Oils and the Micro Biome
        • Studies have found that not only does Thieves kill bad bacteria in your gut it also improves the good bacteria that remains – Don’t we love nature’s protection
        • Life 9 Probiotics,  Thieves, Di-Gize, Copaiba ( Carry these with you at all times)
      • Remember when I mentioned Males and Females brains are different…
        • Women and men use different parts of the brain to handle the same task
        • Therefore it’s important to take notice of Male and Female hormone regularity
      • Smelling essential oils effects brain waves too

Like I said earlier, it is important to always do your research, Dr Oliver is a researcher that has taken experimenting and researching into his own hands and we have been fortunate enough to have him speak about his findings. It was very rare that he associated his findings with Essential Oils although he did find that EO’s can play an important part in our Gut and Brain health, but what he mostly wanted to put across was the importance of having good gut health as an overall which includes more then just using Essential Oils, it’s about awareness, and what you eat and how often and what type of exercise you do.

I hope this information was useful! If you haven’t already, sign-up below to our oily news.
