Easy Healthy* Peppermint Brownies!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! or in this case yummy Gluten-Free Peppermint Brownies! I have been looking around for a somewhat healthy recipe. But most of the “healthy” brownie recipes that come up on a google search include semi-sweet chocolate chips which would make them too sweet for my liking; or Gluten-Free Flour which isn’t as healthy as you think (it is highly processed). So I decided to improvise by replacing some of the ingredients with a healthier alternative and skip the chocolate chips. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they turned out! not too sweet yet still tastes like a treat!

Here’s my recipe –

1 cup organic coconut flour (or buckwheat)
3/4 cup organic cacoa powder (sifted)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup organic coconut oil (or unsalted butter)
1 1/2 cups organic coconut sugar
1 tablespoon organic vanilla extract
3 large organic eggs (room temperature)
3 drops Young Living Peppermint Vitality essential oil (add more if you like a stronger peppermint taste)
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Method:

1. Prepare pan by oiling with coconut oil or butter.
2. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, cacoa powder and salt.
3. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the coconut oil, sugar and vanilla extract.
4. Once combined, add eggs one at a time and stir until combined.
5. Add the dry mixture to the wet and stir until just mixed.
6. Add 3 drops of peppermint vitality oil into the mixture. Blend in a little, don’t overmix.
7. Pour batter into pan.
8. Bake for 20-25 min or until brownies have formed nice slightly crispy edge.
9. Check middle is set by inserting toothpick. It should come out moist with no sticky residue.
10. Be patient as it cools… then dig in!! Mmmmmm!

*Healthy – if you manage to not finish the whole lot in one sitting 😉

5 Reasons People Fail at Wellness by Dr Peter Minke

For those who missed Dr Minke’s two hour wellness talk last Friday, not to worry, I’ve got nooootes!! My friend Leslie has taken some pictures of the slides which I have included. So this is all written in point form.

A little introduction, Dr Minke is a researcher / scientist survived bone cancer when he was 20 years old which prompted him to research a lifestyle on clean and healthy living which in the end brought him to knowing and using Young Living and it’s range of products.

Here are the 5 Reasons:
  1. They don’t stop the poison
  2. They experience a cleansing reaction and stop
  3. They get distracted
  4. They are not sure about the next step
  5. They hit an emotional block or habit
#1 They Don’t Stop the Poison
  • US Water supply is filled with pharmaceutical waste
  • They only take out what they test for
  • They recently did a test for birth control pill waste in the water and found traces of birth control in the water which they do not treat the water for because they have never tested for it in the water.
  • Say NO to recreation fragrancing
    • It effects the ‘old-factory’ makeup in the brain
    • Hormone Disruptors / Phthalates found in synthetic fragrances
      • Use natural products and don’t worry about finishing your toxic products. Just chuck it.
    • Change your toothpaste, there is no fluoride in YL toothpaste
      • There is also no SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate) which is a mild neurotoxin
    • Start using Thieves hand soap instead of the regular anti-bacterial ones or make your own
#2 They experience cleansing reactions and stop
  • Young Living has all the products we need to change our whole wellness lifestyle
    • Water & Oxygen are the two important nutrients for our body
    • Drink 750ml of water first thing in the morning
    • Morning pee has the most toxins in it, so you want to drink more water in the morning to continue flushing the toxins out
    • Vitamin C Supplement from Young Living has Zinc and Cayenne Pepper which helps to flush out toxins
      • Chewable Vitamin C is good for fast absorption from under the tongue
    • Ningxia Red
      • High anti-oxidant
      • Oxidative stress happens in the body when you expose yourself to toxins
      • There are two based systems in the body that carry toxins
        1. Water (in all cells)
        2. Fat
      • Damaged membrane creates unhealthy cells, your thyroid cannot deliver hormone into the body
      • You therefore need fat and water soluble anti-oxidants
        • Essential Oils are Fat Soluble
        • Wolf-berry (in Ningxia Red) is Water Soluble (2oz daily is minimum)
          • Ningxia Red stimulates the thyroid
          • Try Dr Minke’s formula in your used Ningxia red glass bottle. Mix 1oz of Ningxia Red + 4-6 Sulfurzyme capsules (pour out from capsules) + top up with water + x3 Drops of Lime EO
        • Otherwise it is recommended to take Sulfurzyme x4 capsules/day for basic maintenance and within the body
        • Golden Touch Kit has Juva Flex blend essential oil this is a very good EO for fat soluble detoxification massage
        • Alkalime essential oil is also a great oil for detoxing
        • Purchase some PH test strips and test yourself regularly with your saliva or urine
        • Keep your lymph moving with self-massages (see video below)
        • Some of the common reactions you see when your body is going through a detoxification process are:
          1. Headache
          2. Skin Rashes (try lymph massage technique,  patchouli & epsom salt bath, or detoxing clay over skin)
          3. Bowel movements
        • When you start feeling some of these detoxing symptoms it is recommended to reduce the amount of essential oils you’re using to let the body regulate gradually but still keep to your nutrition.

#3 Distraction
  • When you find yourself getting distracted from your wellness rituals, just always keep in mind this 3-Part Wellness Strategy:
    1. Stop the poison
    2. Flood the body with nutrients
    3. Manage stress
  • This will help you to focus outwardly and can be used to manage any specific areas of discomfort in the body or issues
  • Some oils to help you with focus and getting you back on track:
    • Vetiver, Cedarwood, Lavender or using Tranquil Roll-on
    • If you are using oils on infants, place it along the spine as they will not be able to reach it and accidentally touch and rub their eyes.
    • Pay attention to your body. If there is something that your body does not need for any reason. i.e. genetically, disorders, your body will show it. (i.e. you might not like the smell)
    • Chemo. Protection – use Rosemary essential oil
    • Direct your mind to the positive 1) Highest Potential 2) Gathering
    • Cognitive Fitness -> Ningxia Nitro
#4 Not sure what the next step is
  • Go back to the 3-step basics
  • Plan your next order
  • Awareness 1) Frankincense 2) Sacred Mountain
  • Follow Minke Wellness YouTube page
  • On Minke Wellness he’s posted a Wellness Programme, this is something he created when he had lymphoma cancer.
  • Young Living gives you 25% credit back, this is credits that can go towards your next order. This is more credit that what you get back from all your regular shopping malls like Target, Cold Storage… places where you get your daily essentials similar to what we order from Young Living.
#5 Hit emotional Block
  • When Dr Minke went through chemotherapy, his liver got damaged by this procedure. It reduced him to suffer from depression
  • Present time is good to bring us in the moment and relieve stress
  • Some release oils are good daily: Valor II / Release / White Angelica (this helps protect you

The Good Life – Lemon Droppers

I would go out there to say it that if you are reading this it’s probably because you are loving your Essential Oils and have seen some of the amazing benefits the oils have brought you. If you are a member of Young Living and have joined through an Essential Dropper then … CONGRATULATIONS! You are part of the Lemon Dropper family.

WHO ARE THE LEMON DROPPERS?
Once upon a time there was a lady called Lindsay Teague Moreno. She was a mother of 3 girls and enjoyed scrapbooking her life as a wife and mother – no big deal… Until one day, someone introduced her to Young Living’s Essential Oils and like you and me, she fell in love with the oils instantly and could not stop raving about it.

True joy comes when you stumble upon something amazing like these oils and have access to share it’s magic with everyone you know so they too will be able to have the same benefits with these oils.  That is what Lindsay did when she created her first “replacing your medicine cabinet” post (before compliancy came about then she had to take it down…) and from there things went CRAZY. Read her accidental pay-check story here.

The Lemon Droppers team started to grow to a whopping 380,000 members strong in just 4 years! This is the largest and fastest group of members in Young Living. As a group (that includes you) The Lemon Droppers love our Essential Oils so much that all of us combined generate a monthly $2million worth of sales. (Imagine the farms and opportunities we are creating together as part of this amazing team) while improving the wellness of our family and the environment at the same time.

Check out our numbers taken in November 2016

Lindsey personal beginning is something we are all familiar with and something we can relate to. Through Lemon Droppers, this group has opened doors for so many other women, providing members with tons and tons of support and most importantly creating a brand and being part of an awesome Tribe.

Personally I feel so blessed to have been called into this circle of amazing, powerful, and humble group of beautiful women from all backgrounds. How I got to know about the oils was very accidental, perfectly timed, well crafted that only God could set-up for me. Which is why I will always choose to be ‘that oil lady‘.

Here are some of the available collaterals which has helped me that Lindsay has provided:

If you guys are keen to jump on the business bandwagon and start looking at this as a business the ‘non-salesy’ Lemon Dropper way,  let me know I would be happy to add you into tons of free ‘momtrepreneur’ closed group Facebook pages and Lemon Dropper resources.

Remember to set yourself goals and to take it one step at a time.

Love,
Sheila

Valor is BACK!

Valor was one of my first loves when I opened up my starter kit three years ago. Imagine my disbelief when my husband’s snoring stopped shortly after using this oil?! Yes, I used it without permission. I was a ninja in the night. That was the beginning of my love affair with oils.

Millions of people across the world are rejoicing over a unicorn bottle of oil right now. It has been out of stock for almost two years. In that time it was reformulated and renamed Valor II. However, it just wasn’t quite the same. Then, just last week Valor made a come back.

Gary Young (Founder of Young Living with 34 years of experience in growing and distilling oils) has found a way to recreate it sustainably.

Here’s the story of why Valor disappeared :

About 3 years ago, Young Living was growing about 4-6% per year. The company could control the amount of trees and plants that were being planted and they could plan ahead.

But then the company started growing really quickly and the company couldn’t keep up with the 150% growth per year.

The mom and pop partner farm they used to get black spruce from couldn’t keep up with the demand.

Young Living decided to go on the search for black spruce and found a large enough amount that it would have put Valor back on the shelves. But when tested, the oil came back within the “good” limits but it wasn’t “excellent”. So Young Living passed on it and continued to search until they decided they would rather spend millions of dollars to buy a huge acreage of black spruce up in Northern Canada. They built a distillery and then a water filtration system to ensure the water for distilling was pure.

Then, blue tansy had a bad season and Valor was put on hold again.

Rosewood was then found to be close to becoming an endangered species so the search started for an oil that would be sustainable but also have the same qualities as rosewood. Young Living finally found a farm to partner with that is giving us camphor wood oil.

And now, it’s back! (Many are giving a BIG sigh of relief)

Young Living has lost approximately $100,000,000 (no, that zero key is not sticky) by not having Valor available for sale. But Young Living never compromises quality, purity or sustainability to make a buck. They would rather be out of stock than have subpar products for their members.

That’s my kind of company! So here we are, almost two years later and the oil that has supported strength, confidence, courage, quiet nights of sleep, and supports the body’s ability to align itself is now back. For many, this oil is the difference between being alive and LIVING.

Wool balls over fabric softner

Yay! This is finally here to revolutionise the way I do laundry. For years I hav been obsessed with having my clothing and towels come out smelling like a bed of roses.

Priorities change when you get educate on the harmful nasties that are acutal present in a softener. The way I used to bury my face in my dry stack of freshly washed and dried towels now make me feel rather sick. Just google “Harmful effects of fabric softner” and you can get a sea of information on what actually Is being left on your clothes after it has been rinsed with Fabric Softner.

Back to the wool balls. They are actually dryer balls that softens your laundry while it tumbles in your dryer. I basically still use normal washing laundry liquid but replace the softner with just vinegar. I add a few drops of EO of my choice here. Not too much.

Once laundry is washed and cleaned, ;the vinegar smell is completely gone!) you might get a hint of your EO and vinegar is in a way acting like a softner so it leave your clothing smelling naturally clean apart font chemically clean – check out the difference. For my towels and t-shift and kids clothing, I place them in the tumble dryer with the wool dryer balls drop some of my favourite EO on them (Lavender is my favourite).

Try this for yourself especially if you have family members with skin conditions like eczema and allergies.
