It’s The Most Kissable Time of the Year 🎶🎵 🎶🎵

Sing along with me. “It’s the most kissable time of the year. With the lips picker-pucking and everyone telling you bring your gloss here…. It’s the most kissable time of the year!”

Yes it is the season to be kissing. Mistletoe kissing that is. So let’s get our festive lips kiss ready for both yourself and for your loved one. The weather is now turning colder my the minute and before you know it a white Christmas will not be a distant dream (except if you live this part of the world or Australia where sadly… no) Despite where you live, it’s always a good reason to keep your lips in the pink of health.

Here is our recipe for making your own sweet kissable lips with the help of essential oils and what’s best they make great little party gifts for your guests to take home flavoured with some Christmas

You will need to purchase some of the natural raw ingredients as well as empty lipgloss sticks or even small glass containers.

  • 1 Tablespoon Beeswax (admire for firmer lip balm – less for more thick body butter)
  • 1 Tablespoon Shea Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Cocoa Butter
  • 2 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
  • 20 Drops Christmas Spirit Essential Oil or
  • 20 Drops Peppermint, 20 Drops Spearmint. 3 Drops Lavender

This website does a pretty good recipe as well as a simple label that you can print out for your containers.  Lia Griffith

  1. Double Boil all the ingredients except for the essential oils
  2. Once beeswax has melted turn on double boiler and remove and leave to cool
  3. Work a little quickly here, once it cools it’ll start to harden so at a warm temperature, include your essential oils
  4. Pour mixture into a disposable piping plastic bag or any regular small clean plastic bag where you can cut off the tip.
  5. Arrange your empty lip gloss bottle on top of baking picture for easy cleaning
  6. Cut off the bottom tip of your piping bag and start filling top your lip gloss bottle right till the top.
  7. Let it cool. Remove any spilled wax and cover

Easy Healthy* Peppermint Brownies!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! or in this case yummy Gluten-Free Peppermint Brownies! I have been looking around for a somewhat healthy recipe. But most of the “healthy” brownie recipes that come up on a google search include semi-sweet chocolate chips which would make them too sweet for my liking; or Gluten-Free Flour which isn’t as healthy as you think (it is highly processed). So I decided to improvise by replacing some of the ingredients with a healthier alternative and skip the chocolate chips. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they turned out! not too sweet yet still tastes like a treat!

Here’s my recipe –

1 cup organic coconut flour (or buckwheat)
3/4 cup organic cacoa powder (sifted)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup organic coconut oil (or unsalted butter)
1 1/2 cups organic coconut sugar
1 tablespoon organic vanilla extract
3 large organic eggs (room temperature)
3 drops Young Living Peppermint Vitality essential oil (add more if you like a stronger peppermint taste)
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

1. Prepare pan by oiling with coconut oil or butter.
2. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, cacoa powder and salt.
3. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the coconut oil, sugar and vanilla extract.
4. Once combined, add eggs one at a time and stir until combined.
5. Add the dry mixture to the wet and stir until just mixed.
6. Add 3 drops of peppermint vitality oil into the mixture. Blend in a little, don’t overmix.
7. Pour batter into pan.
8. Bake for 20-25 min or until brownies have formed nice slightly crispy edge.
9. Check middle is set by inserting toothpick. It should come out moist with no sticky residue.
10. Be patient as it cools… then dig in!! Mmmmmm!

*Healthy – if you manage to not finish the whole lot in one sitting 😉

Cheers to all Women Warriors but First Let’s Fill our Cups!

We have all heard the aircraft stewardess repeating this time and time again before every take-off. “In case of an emergency the cabin pressure drops, oxygen masks will be released. If you are caring for a child, make sure you put on your oxygen mask and secure it before attending to your child.” It’s a no brainer really when you think about it, being passed out from lack of oxygen is not going to help anyone let alone the child that you are caring for.

Women are biologically the nurturers and caregivers where men are the protectors, providers (and in my case, the fixers). So don’t be upset when your husband is naturally clueless with what to do when you are sick in bed when instinctively you know how to care for a sick family member. It’s just not in their genetic programming.

When I say nurturers and caregivers, this includes, being the problem solver, the transport guy for pick-ups and drop-offs, the cook, cleaner, the all night nurses and the worriers. This is why men get credited if they can fulfil at least half (or one of these tasks) – and vice versa of course. The same goes for a women who knows her way around the tool box or holding down a career while raising children. I hope you get where I’m going with this….

As the Nurturers and Caregivers of our species, we women need to look after ourselves, as in, we need to refill our own cup from that fountain of nourishment in order for us to be the best nurturers we can be for our families. Women have so much to give in society, we are raising the next generation and so our actions and thoughts have a heavy responsibility in how our children think and behave as adults. So here are some things I’ve come to stop and take notice of myself.

Nourishment for Mind and Body

  1. It doesn’t matter if it’s Fifty Shades of Grey or an inspirational book. Both works depending what the intention is. Sometimes I like to numb the brain by reading a trashy romance novel, and a-lot of the time I love reading Ladyboss books! Something with good tips on how I can better myself and my business. Either way, reading a good book has this ability to transport your mind out of it’s constant internal chatter into something external and open it up to greater possibilities. The Alchemist – was THAT book for me.  Some essential oils that I like to put on my necklace diffuser is Ylang-Ylang and Believe to bring focus.
  1. This is as broad a word as I can use to represent overall body health. Our body is our form by which our soul resides in to carry out our life’s work. So, we all know that having a full functioning healthy body will help us make life a lot easier. I will not touch on everything but I’ll just say, make educated decisions in what we put into our bodies and taking notice of what comes out. Our muscles need strengthening too in order to support our bones and joints so hydrate and be active – always! Find an activity that’s enjoyable for you. For me it’s Yoga, fitting time to practice  is key as I know I’m giving my body some attention and pushing myself to improve in strength, so every time you practice, make that practice worth your time.  Supplements like Ningxia Red, and the Vitality Range of Essential Oils and Vitamins helps my body function in it’s most optimal level. Everything Young Living is about living a healthier life. So hence why I’m in Young Living for the long haul!
  1. Putting your best face forward at all times. I remember my mom’s advise to me was to alway present yourself well as you’ll never know who you are going run into. It’s true what she says, although my misconception with this whilst growing up was to conform to what society think is beautiful. What I know now for sure is, Beauty is primarily about Confidence. Uh-Huh! your confident self is smart and knows that looking after your skin, dressing well and being kind is your beauty kit right there, and because being nasty is just Ugly. PERIOD!
Nourishment Your Soul
Aligning Yourself With Your Source
  1. For me meditating over reading the Bible is something I wish to do daily but don’t and it’s something I need to prioritise. For others there are other ways of finding your source. Meditating is one way to do it and there’s so many ways to go about doing it. Taking walks in nature, sitting by the beach, giving yourself a bath with candles… Find time alone (yes, sometime a phone detox is good too) to connect with your source. Scents like Frankincense, Cedarwood, Lavender helps with grounding.
Create Human Connections
  1. Two Women Hugging Outside

  2. One thing I love about what I do is that I get to meet people and have opportunities to have authentic connections. Hugging is known to create a chemical release in your body that relaxes you and makes you happy. We were made for human connection and the secret is… Be Vulnerable. No connection can be made with your ego involved. Conversations with friends over coffee to me is one of my all-time favourite things to do. Calling one person a week whom you’ve not spoken to for a long time opens up so much positive energy for connection. Even sending prayers out to people is pretty cosmic as you might find that person at the other end of the world would feel that connection too.
  1. Choose Love over Hate, because as Will Smith puts it so eloquently in his song ‘Just the two of us’.

“Throughout life people will make you mad, Disrespect you and tread you bad. Let God deal with the things they do ‘Cause hate in your heart will consume you too.”

So there, these are of-course my thoughts this cold Saturday morning. If you have anything else to add. Experiences and advise of your own.. (pleas keep it positive ; ) ) please leave us a comment! Sx

How to make your essential oils less effective.

Essential Oils are high in antioxidant properties. They also contain many other system supporting properties. Each oil has a purpose, but they do have a varying ratio of each of these properties. I use them daily to help me detox/chelate/neutralise my body of any free radicals and build up a strong immune system. I believe it has the potential to be the most effective modality when it comes to supporting our immune system.

However…. how effective the oils are at carrying out it’s multi-faceted capabilities will depend on many factors. For e.g.: how is my diet? do I eat a lot of fried food full of saturated omega 6 fatty acids? am I drinking too much alcohol or sodas? is the air I’m breathing clean (internal and external air!!)? am I using products laden with toxic chemicals on my skin and in my mouth? Fun Fact: an average home has more indoor air pollution than the outside.

If we are bombarding our bodies with undesirable chemicals, then much of the oil is being used up to neutralise those chemicals. And as it is doing this, it is depleting it’s ability to do other functions in other areas of the body. So you have to increase your dose of essential oil to increase it’s functions and effect on your body.

Every day we are exposed to toxic chemicals whether we like it or not. Thankfully, most of the time we are in control of the choices we make. What’s in your deodorant, haircare, body wash, air freshener, toothpaste, cleaners?

Learn what chemicals are damaging to our bodies. Learn to look out for endocrine disruptors in the ingredients list – these are toxic chemicals that disrupt your endocrine system (the system responsible for hormone production) creating an imbalance in your hormone levels, which can then lead to many diseases.

The body’s inability to purge toxins fast enough (toxic burden) lead to a compromised immune system that cannot keep up with the repair work needed to keep the body healthy from free radicals and cell mutations.

Go to EWG’s Dirty Dozen List –…/dirty-dozen-list-endocrine-disruptors…

If you’re one of our members, ask how you can get yourself added to The Essential Switch group in Facebook, to learn what to avoid and how to make the switch to clean products that YL has! this is a support group created for you.

I don’t walk down the cleaning aisle or the personal care aisle in the supermarket or pharmacy anymore. I have replaced all those with what YL can provide that are clear of endocrine disruptors. They have a huge range of products for your every day needs – nothing but clean, safe  ingredients. I have saved myself a lot of time and I’ve invested that money in my health.

Just remember, antioxidants of all forms are SOOOO important!! Fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Oils and Ningxia Red daily too! because they have very high levels of antioxidants and you just can’t get it all in food these days. And get rid of the things that challenge the body in it’s restoration and repair.

What conscious changes are you going to make next to give your immune system a chance?

If you want to learn more about the science behind essential oils and why YL’s oils can’t be beat, you can visit my friend Dr Doug’s group. He’s trained in biophysics and biochemistry and does a great job at explaining things in terms we can understand. This is a great place for those of you who love learning the science behind YL’s oils!

What goes on during an Essential Oil Workshop

Today I was so honored to be invited to conduct an Essential Oil introduction workshop to a bunch a lovely pre-school teachers this morning.

Why do we love doing classes?

We do them because, we are advocates for a change in the way people should look at nature. The more we use our oils, the more we fall in love with them. The chemistry was so natural, they start to become a part of our daily lives and what is best is when we see our family start to benefit from them too.

Hence why this is something that you want to be around forever. I want Young Living oils to be around and even in my Grandchildren’s household, but it all has to start from me.

The perks is that we get to live in the lifestyle of Essential Oils and all things naturally healthy for our family.

How to sign-up for a class?

Easiest way is to sign-up to our database where we will keep you informed of all upcoming events and workshops that we host continually.

If you have a friend that is a distributor for Young Living and and happy to speak more about these oils then feel free to contact them. You can find a list of us on the About Us page!

It’s always a Party

Never going to be boring, you’ll get to try out the oils, have a sniff, have a rub or even make some personalized bottles for yourself.

We love to hear all about you, so usually there’s lots of chatter going around, we call this an Oil Party for a reason.

No class is complete without a little hands on Do It Yourselves. We teach about how with each bottle of oil there’s something you can make and bring home. You can make as many as you like!

Airplane Mode – Diffuser Hack

Airplane Mode – Diffuser Hack!

No, I am not sick 😂… I am just on a flight. I absolutely love to travel, and I love traveling with my family. However, I am always a little wary of the flight and mostly the recycled air on planes, its not like we can open a window for some fresh air…not to mention the lovely coughing passenger sitting in the row behind us!

So introducing my Diffuser Hack for a breathe of fresh air! Literally, on this last trip, I did 1 drop of R.C. in the middle of the inside of the mask and Breathe 🌬🌬🌬! It lasts about 30mins or so and you can add another drop as you wish to top up. I have to say I actually felt better when I got off the plane! I am bringing this with me every time now and will make sure I pack a few spare masks for the poor coughing passenger…!!

For kids, you might want to use lavender… so when it comes to sleep time, perhaps it might help them nod off a little earlier 😉

Some variations to try:
– Frankincense
– Thieves (but use sparingly, it might be a bit too spicy)
– Melrose
– Idaho Balsam Fir
– Orange
– Citrus Fresh
– Purification
– Even Stress Away

or your favorite oil to diffuse. Let me know what your favorites are!

** probably best NOT to use peppermint as it’s quite a hot oil… and the mask is usually in contact with your skin.

Aromatherapy Yoga with Ed Dailey

So on Tuesday bunch of girlfriends and I went to Yoga Mala for a 7:30 PM two hours aromatherapy yoga session with the renouned Ed Dailey.

A few things that I loved about his energy was that he engaged with his students. He asked questions like how they were feeling today, have they been sleeping ok, what is the most common problems Singaporeans suffer on a day to day basis etc. etc.

From there he decides what would be the best sequence to bring forth to practice. That night as it was a Tuesday evening and people came after work, most people mentioned that they were feeling tense and some said stressed with work. So he decided a sequence that focused on the hip/femur part of the body.

I loved the bit when he would put us thought these torture like postures where we’d sit on the floor heels next to the buttocks. So your knees are really opening up and we’d sit there for 8-10minutes or so (or at least it felt like it). From there he’d talk a little bit more and you’d notice people’s faces would start to contort because they were starting to get really uncomfortable. At this point too the first oil that he placed on the left (receiving hand) was Stress Away.

Then later he’d switch to a down dog to alleviate the discomfort and instantly people breathed a silent sigh of relief.

Throughout the class it consisted on mostly that, some slightly uncomfortable restorative postures the ease into a more comfortable restorative posture, creating that alleviating of tension and that sigh of relief from everyone.

Another cool thing we practiced was a lot of group work. He complained that every time people come into a Yoga class they just fall silent and not interact with others and fall into their own mat and close out everyone from existence. So he changed that and made us do many group stretches which I thought was cool to interact and get hands on with others to help with either getting deeper grounding (by pressing down on feet or on points of the body which he demonstrated) and just the physical contact itself gave some comfort.

The oils he used were very simple. Started off with Stress Away, then it was my favourite for it’s high frequency Idaho Blue Spruce – breathing this in while in Childs Pose. Towards the end we used Lemon. Finally during Savasana we inhaled Joy (I think this is his favourite).

Lots of great tips taken away from this session. Thank you for the wonderful session Ed and for sharing your wisdom and expressing your quirky personality. Sx

5 Reasons People Fail at Wellness by Dr Peter Minke

For those who missed Dr Minke’s two hour wellness talk last Friday, not to worry, I’ve got nooootes!! My friend Leslie has taken some pictures of the slides which I have included. So this is all written in point form.

A little introduction, Dr Minke is a researcher / scientist survived bone cancer when he was 20 years old which prompted him to research a lifestyle on clean and healthy living which in the end brought him to knowing and using Young Living and it’s range of products.

Here are the 5 Reasons:
  1. They don’t stop the poison
  2. They experience a cleansing reaction and stop
  3. They get distracted
  4. They are not sure about the next step
  5. They hit an emotional block or habit
#1 They Don’t Stop the Poison
  • US Water supply is filled with pharmaceutical waste
  • They only take out what they test for
  • They recently did a test for birth control pill waste in the water and found traces of birth control in the water which they do not treat the water for because they have never tested for it in the water.
  • Say NO to recreation fragrancing
    • It effects the ‘old-factory’ makeup in the brain
    • Hormone Disruptors / Phthalates found in synthetic fragrances
      • Use natural products and don’t worry about finishing your toxic products. Just chuck it.
    • Change your toothpaste, there is no fluoride in YL toothpaste
      • There is also no SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate) which is a mild neurotoxin
    • Start using Thieves hand soap instead of the regular anti-bacterial ones or make your own
#2 They experience cleansing reactions and stop
  • Young Living has all the products we need to change our whole wellness lifestyle
    • Water & Oxygen are the two important nutrients for our body
    • Drink 750ml of water first thing in the morning
    • Morning pee has the most toxins in it, so you want to drink more water in the morning to continue flushing the toxins out
    • Vitamin C Supplement from Young Living has Zinc and Cayenne Pepper which helps to flush out toxins
      • Chewable Vitamin C is good for fast absorption from under the tongue
    • Ningxia Red
      • High anti-oxidant
      • Oxidative stress happens in the body when you expose yourself to toxins
      • There are two based systems in the body that carry toxins
        1. Water (in all cells)
        2. Fat
      • Damaged membrane creates unhealthy cells, your thyroid cannot deliver hormone into the body
      • You therefore need fat and water soluble anti-oxidants
        • Essential Oils are Fat Soluble
        • Wolf-berry (in Ningxia Red) is Water Soluble (2oz daily is minimum)
          • Ningxia Red stimulates the thyroid
          • Try Dr Minke’s formula in your used Ningxia red glass bottle. Mix 1oz of Ningxia Red + 4-6 Sulfurzyme capsules (pour out from capsules) + top up with water + x3 Drops of Lime EO
        • Otherwise it is recommended to take Sulfurzyme x4 capsules/day for basic maintenance and within the body
        • Golden Touch Kit has Juva Flex blend essential oil this is a very good EO for fat soluble detoxification massage
        • Alkalime essential oil is also a great oil for detoxing
        • Purchase some PH test strips and test yourself regularly with your saliva or urine
        • Keep your lymph moving with self-massages (see video below)
        • Some of the common reactions you see when your body is going through a detoxification process are:
          1. Headache
          2. Skin Rashes (try lymph massage technique,  patchouli & epsom salt bath, or detoxing clay over skin)
          3. Bowel movements
        • When you start feeling some of these detoxing symptoms it is recommended to reduce the amount of essential oils you’re using to let the body regulate gradually but still keep to your nutrition.

#3 Distraction
  • When you find yourself getting distracted from your wellness rituals, just always keep in mind this 3-Part Wellness Strategy:
    1. Stop the poison
    2. Flood the body with nutrients
    3. Manage stress
  • This will help you to focus outwardly and can be used to manage any specific areas of discomfort in the body or issues
  • Some oils to help you with focus and getting you back on track:
    • Vetiver, Cedarwood, Lavender or using Tranquil Roll-on
    • If you are using oils on infants, place it along the spine as they will not be able to reach it and accidentally touch and rub their eyes.
    • Pay attention to your body. If there is something that your body does not need for any reason. i.e. genetically, disorders, your body will show it. (i.e. you might not like the smell)
    • Chemo. Protection – use Rosemary essential oil
    • Direct your mind to the positive 1) Highest Potential 2) Gathering
    • Cognitive Fitness -> Ningxia Nitro
#4 Not sure what the next step is
  • Go back to the 3-step basics
  • Plan your next order
  • Awareness 1) Frankincense 2) Sacred Mountain
  • Follow Minke Wellness YouTube page
  • On Minke Wellness he’s posted a Wellness Programme, this is something he created when he had lymphoma cancer.
  • Young Living gives you 25% credit back, this is credits that can go towards your next order. This is more credit that what you get back from all your regular shopping malls like Target, Cold Storage… places where you get your daily essentials similar to what we order from Young Living.
#5 Hit emotional Block
  • When Dr Minke went through chemotherapy, his liver got damaged by this procedure. It reduced him to suffer from depression
  • Present time is good to bring us in the moment and relieve stress
  • Some release oils are good daily: Valor II / Release / White Angelica (this helps protect you
